Mix. Draw. Record. Return.
Thirty-two printed pills, one for every character in the bech32 alphabet. Draw one, write it down, put it back. Twenty-six times, and the entropy in your backup is something you watched happen rather than something a chip told you.
The set
Choose your colours
In the kit
- 32 pills
One per bech32 character. Identical shell, flush lettering, and the same orientation bar on every piece so 6 cannot be read as 9.
- Draw bag
Opaque, and deep enough that 32 pills actually tumble. Mixing is the part the method depends on.
- Worksheet
An A7 card ruled for the draws, the header and the checksum, so you can read a full codex32 string back in fours and catch a transcription slip.
Why draw it by hand
Nothing to trust
No firmware, no hardware RNG, no supply chain between you and the bits. Thirty-two pieces and a bag, and you can count them.
Five bits, exactly
Each draw from 32 equally likely characters is log₂ 32 = 5 bits. Twenty-six draws make a 128-bit seed, fifty-two make a 256-bit one.
One draw, one character
A die gives you 2.58 bits a roll and a table to convert the number into a character. A pill is the character. Nothing to convert, nothing to mistranscribe.
